Sports Science & Medicine
SotoTennis Academy has its own Sport Science and Medicine department led by Nick Morgan. Players regularly complete musculo-skeletal assessments, in addition to fitness tests that determine key variables that determine success in tennis. The resultant training programmes are tailored for every player, taking into account their strengths, weaknesses and areas for development. Crucially, all programmes are developed alongside the coaching team to ensure alignment to the players tennis specific on-court goals, and then training/competition schedule. This team effort is central to the SotoTennis philosophy.
Nutrition is another key area of focus, including strategies for the periods before, during and after training/matches, in addition to the demands of playing in hot and humid conditions. Healthy eating and strong food choices are discussed with each player and is the foundation of which individual strategies are built.
STA has use of a fully-equipped gym, as well as miles of beach for training! We also have strong links with a local Physiotherapist and Doctors which players have access to if and when required. The long-term health of our players, and consequently, athletic development is tailored and structured in such a way that we reduce the risk of injury and develop players for the long-term demands of top class tennis.
